Young Personalities & Attitudes

Aren't young children amazing???....Oh, all children are amazing at any age....they are fascinating as they develope their personalities.....but they still need guidance.....I had three boys approximately two years apart...and then we adopted a little girl....Rick, our first born, was very shy....When he went to kindergarten, he was 4 years old (his birthday was before December 31) so he was able to go that September....I had no qualms about sending him....he was smart and bright....Then the teacher called me in...he did not know how to join in the childrens play....he was very shy, she said....anyway it took Rick almost three months before he started to come home and talk about all the friends he made and the fun he was having at school....we used to ask him questions when he came home, so that he would have to talk about his day and all the kids and the teacher and every day it got easier for him.....NOW....Mick was a whole different story....the first day he went to school he was put out in the hall because he was pushy and mouthy....so working with him was very different from working with his brother....we had to talk to him about keeping his hands to himself and and his mouth closed unless he was going to say something nice......Now....Vic was really no problem...seeing as he had two different personalities to contend with at home ....he was able to get along with everyone.....Then....we adopted a little girl....she idolized her brothers ....they could do no wrong....so when she started school she kind of blended with the boys more than the girls.....because she grew up with her three brothers....she knew how to communicate easier with the boys...so anytime teacher couldn't find Mari...she checked the boys area.....Oh they weren't perfect...none of them....they had to be taught right from wrong.....Four different personalities and they did their share of arguing, bickering, fighting, having fun and growing up....but they all turned out to be good people....the boys are men to be proud of (and I am) and my daughter is a great Mom and gramma now...works in a hospital in the ER.....Yes, I am very proud of them all....Oh, it wasn't easy.....there were some very upsetting times and disciplining involved ....of course....now-a-days....children go to day care ...pre-school...and it is very, very important that they realize very early that this is just a place for them to go to every day so that Mom and Dad can work and know they are being taken care of....it is not a second home....some children get confused about this .....My cousins son went to a day care and he called the teacher Mommy....no one ever corrected him....so he still does....well, I guess I said enough for now...but I'll be back with some of their antics later.....
